No matter how the loss, it is this. I too am an orphan, not yet from the loss of my parents, but from the sudden loss of my significant other: Ray. Eileen and Martha have been terrific in helping me to trust that I still can and do connect to Ray. This is a great idea, especially ...Hi Christopher,

This is a great idea, especially if you mix tales of the last months of your journey with your mom WITH your current journey. A lot of people lose themselves in the caregiving role, having become so fully a caregiver, that they have a hard time re-discovering themselves when the person they took such good care of has died.

Write! We'll follow and perhaps lend a little of our own advice here and there.

Hugs,
Craig and DerrickCraig Wiesnerhttp://www.reachandteach.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-259246159964432777.post-17053598354385850972012-04-30T07:01:15.902-04:002012-04-30T07:01:15.902-04:00Good for you Chris, you are strong and now it'...Good for you Chris, you are strong and now it's your turn...take the world by storm!Teri Semlear Powleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784297779096884817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-259246159964432777.post-34797748445594061612012-04-30T06:57:12.981-04:002012-04-30T06:57:12.981-04:00Come along ...the best is yet to be...thus spoke t...Come along ...the best is yet to be...thus spoke the poet and it is what all your friends wish for you, both spoken and unspoken wishes....see you in May .clare gambinohttp://cmcg99002aol.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-259246159964432777.post-26031688782651736982012-04-03T01:59:28.354-04:002012-04-03T01:59:28.354-04:00I was looking on the web for a ricotta pie recipe,...I was looking on the web for a ricotta pie recipe, as I am unfamiliar with them, I checked MANY sites and found you and your recipe. I am determined to make one this Easter inspite of the fact that I not Italian. I believe I was in another life, since I do love Italian food, lol. I copied the recipe and then starte to read some of your blog.
I am so sorry for the losses you have suffered. I lost my mom in 1992 due to complications of Alzheimer's. I am also sorry to see that you haven't resumed your blog. You may have lost the original reason for writting, but you still have a gift of writting. You need to keep it up and still give we voyeurs a glimpse of someone else's "normal" life.
Give us rememberances of your mom, things she said and did.
I remember my dad watching mom "plant" serenam cherry seeds where they dropped so her hedge would grow fuller (she'd take her finger and push the "seed" down into the ground). Dad eventually figured out her intentions, but couldn't resist, "Mabel, are you expecting to grow your own rabbits??" She had been poking rabbit pellets, not cherry seeds. She didn't live that down for a long time.
Well enough from me. I hope to read more from the "pen" of CE Lanni.
God Bless
deewillard@yahoo.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-259246159964432777.post-46183592614194661592011-12-19T20:20:59.368-05:002011-12-19T20:20:59.368-05:00Christopher,

Thankfully you saw your neighbor and took action. So many people do not and before you know it, this person who has dementia is now miles away and sometimes without a happy ending! Millie has dementia and event though she lives in an assisted living facility, she could leave the building whenever she wants. Generally she doesn't venture out on her own because she has to use a "key fob" to get back in which,, she doesn't know how to use. Scary though, right?? Hopefully after this recent incident, your neighbor's family will take added precautions and put alarms on the doors. I think that is an excellent idea!! Sometimes the most loving decision we make for our loved ones is to let go. My mother is currently in a nursing home under hospice care. They were brought on board after a recent hospitalization for pneumonia. She is receiving comfort care only, and our hopes are to make the remainder of her life as comfortable and happy in her diminshed mental state as possible. Her wishes were for no extraordinary measures, and in her infrequent lucid moments, she prays for "the Lord to take her home". I haven't posted comments (except once before), but wanted you to know that I find your blogs not only a source of strength, but uplifting as well. Prayers for your and Mrs. Lanni always!Connie Smithnoreply@blogger.com
